Two-Day Adventure: Prespa and Korça
The first stop will be in Lake Ohrid Pogradec, where we will relax together with the morning coffee. We will then set out to discover the natural lake surrounded by mountains, Prespa. As soon as we cross the Dry Mountain we will be over the village of Pustec. The scenic view attracts you, but more impresses the island of Maligrad. We set off there, arriving on the shores of Lake Prespa, ready to sail to the church hidden in the rocky cavity of the island.
Day 1: Exploring Lake Ohrid and Prespa
Our journey begins early in the morning with departure from Tirana. The first stop is the picturesque Lake Ohrid in Pogradec, where we will relax with a morning coffee and take in the serene views of this ancient lake.
We then set out to explore Lake Prespa, a stunning natural wonder surrounded by majestic mountains. After crossing Dry Mountain, we arrive at the charming village of Pustec, where breathtaking landscapes and the enchanting Maligrad Island await.
Upon reaching the shores of Lake Prespa, we board a boat to visit the island, home to the 14th-century St. Mary’s Orthodox Church. Nestled in a rocky cavity, this chapel is adorned with historic frescoes and offers a magical blend of history and nature. The pristine surroundings, home to Dalmatian pelicans and diverse wildlife, make Prespa National Park a remarkable destination.
After exploring the church and enjoying the scenic views, we return to the village for a traditional lunch featuring Krapi, a locally renowned lake fish.
Day 2: Discovering the Charm of Korça
After lunch, we head to Korça, known as the “City of Serenades.” This city, celebrated for its warm hospitality, cobblestone streets, and stone villas, offers endless opportunities for exploration. Often referred to as the “Little Paris,” Korça is the perfect destination for a lively evening filled with traditional music and a delightful dinner.
The next morning, we dive into Korça’s rich cultural and historical heritage with a guided city tour. Highlights include:
• The National Museum of Medieval Art, showcasing a vast collection of religious artifacts and icons.
• The Old Bazaar, where history and commerce intertwine in a vibrant marketplace.
• Resurrection Cathedral, a symbol of the city’s spiritual and architectural beauty.
As our two-day adventure concludes, we return to Tirana, bringing home unforgettable memories of Prespa and Korça.
